Our Team Helps “Can” Hunger!
On Friday, April 17, our staff participated in the annual Philabundance Canstruction fundraiser at Liberty Place in Philadelphia. The team “canstructed” the Genie from Aladdin with the theme “You ain’t never had a CAN like me!” Liberty Place was buzzing as 15 teams from throughout the design and construction industry gathered to build unique creations out of canned goods.
Team members shared words of encouragement with their neighbors during the build, and coworkers worked together and built comradery to carefully assemble these detailed canned creations. At around 2 am, delirium set in for the team when the Genie was fully completed, but for his head. However, they mustered up all of their energy to finish the build around 3 in the morning. In spite of the late hour, and complicated build, everyone had a great time working together creating such a unique memory while helping others.
The Canstruction fundraiser benefits Philabundance, a non-profit food bank that serves the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley regions. Wherever a Canstruction competition is held, thousands of hungry people are fed, an awareness of the issues surrounding hunger are heightened publicly, and a spotlight is placed on the design and construction industry as we give back to our local communities.
We were thrilled to be able to live out our mission of helping others in need by participating in this incredible fundraiser. The team was also excited to receive the “Best Structural Ingenuity” award at the Canstruction Gala!
Thank you to corporate sponsors AKF Group LLC, Illuminations Inc., Stanley’s Hardware, Weis, ShopRite, BJ’s, and Giant for donating to our team!
