What makes THA’s Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI) suitable for conducting Periodic Inspection of Parking Structures (PIPS) in New York City?

Posted on

THA has long been committed to providing parking facility owners and operators with the expertise and resources to maximize the structural integrity of their facilities. The THA team of engineers and designers comes with decades of experience in providing parking garage condition assessment and restoration services. This commitment and experience enable us to assist you in navigating the NYC laws and rules regarding Periodic Inspection of Parking Structures (PIPS).

As a result of a recent legal change, all parking facility owners in New York City are now required to engage a Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI) to provide a comprehensive condition assessment every (6) years. Following the inspection, the QPSI must file a compliance report with the NYC Department of Buildings, classifying the condition of the elements of the facility.

After the report is submitted, the Owner and QPSI must take the required actions to address elements that are classified as Unsafe or as Safe with Repairs and/or Engineering Monitoring (SREM). An “Amended” report is submitted once repairs are complete, or a “Subsequent” report is submitted to change the status if conditions worsen or to modify the recommended repair time frame.
