Spiraling Upward: Transforming an Iconic Allentown Parking Facility

This fall, the City of Allentown opened the doors to the newly renovated Spiral Deck parking garage. Formerly the iconic Hess Deck, the garage serves the brand new 10,000 seat PPL Center entertainment arena, home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Due to its age and some logistical challenges, renovation of this garage was essential to appropriately serve the significant new development anticipated for the surrounding community. These new renovations helped aid in creating a more efficient experience for users to multiple destinations, while creating a more pleasant and inviting experience overall.

Our firm worked with the Allentown Parking Authority and Construction Manager Boyle Construction to provide a number of enhancements to recreate the structure as an inviting destination in the downtown core, with vibrant lighting enhancements, metal screening, and upgraded walkways and common areas. Additional improvements included a new community plaza with grass pavers, flowering ornamental trees, and stylish lighting and benches that also serve as bike racks.

With redevelopments like the Spiral Deck parking garage, the city of Allentown is being transformed into a lively and attractive community. Congratulations to the Allentown Parking Authority on this exciting project!
